Friends of the LeClaire Community Library / Volunteer

  • Our next Friends of the Library meeting is Thursday, February 28th 4:30 P.M. Everyone is welcome!
  • Volunteer - There are many ways to help at the library as a volunteer and we appreciate the help! Please contact the library at library@leclaireiowa.gov , call 563-289-4242x4 or stop by the front desk to see what volunteer opportunities are currently available.
     

  • The mission of the Friends of the LeClaire Library is to support and be an advocate for the LeClaire Community Library.

Our Meetings:

  • We meet the fourth Thursday of most months (not in July, August or December).

  • Meetings are at 4:30 P.M. at the LeClaire Community Library
    (3rd Street and Wisconsin in LeClaire).

Our Events:

  • Book Sales - at May Market Days and Autumn Market Day in September, as well as a year-round on-going sale in the library. See www.visitleclaire.com for dates.

    We accept donations of used books, magazines and other items from the community for these sales. Before bringing large donations of books, please call the library at 289-4242 ext.4 to see if we have adequate space to accept all of your donations! Thanks!

  • The next Trivia Night benefiting the LeClaire Community Library is planned for January 2014.  Call 563-505-6703 to reserve a table of 8 people. $10 per person. All proceeds support our library. FLYER*
     

  • Spelling Bees - Next planned for Spring 2012 for all Ages. See Calendar for details.
    The 2012 Annual Capt. Phillip Suiter Spelling Bee was a success! Congratulations to all who participated and the top 2 spellers in each age category:

"Jazz on the Bluff":

Thanks to everyone who made the
2007 Jazz on the Bluff another
huge success, bringing in just over $3000!

Voted "New Event for 2004" by the
LeClaire Chamber of Commerce, this
event features live jazz from the
award winning Scott Silver Chicago
Jazz Quintet, Wine tasting from Tabor Winery,
Silent Auction, and desserts and hors d'oeuvres from local businesses.

Book Sale Donations Policy:

Updated Sunday, February 10, 2013:

”The mission of the Friends of the LeClaire Library is to support and be an advocate for the LeClaire Community Library. Friends of the Library gratefully accept donations of books and other materials (see below). These donations supply on-going and bi-annual book sales, which are our major source for income.

Due to limited work and storage space, we ask donors to limit donations to items that are in sale-able condition. Water damaged, soiled, and mildewed materials will not be accepted. All donations are scanned for possible inclusion in the library collection. If an item is not needed in the library collection, it is offered for sale.

GUIDELINES FOR DONATIONS:

Books– Hardcover & Paperback
Music CDs & Books on CD
DVDs & Video Games (Discs)
Jigsaw Puzzles (complete)

Thank you for your interest in supporting the library!
Due to limited storage space, the library cannot accept:
Magazines
Encyclopedias
Textbooks
VHS, Cassette Tapes & Vinyl Records
Readers’ Digest & Condensed Books
Water-damaged, soiled or moldy items.
Items with pencil, pen or crayon markings, missing pages or missing/ torn covers.


The Friends of the LeClaire Community Library are grateful to the members of
the community who donate these items. We welcome your donations and
would welcome you as a volunteer.
